Youth & Teen

Youth Yoga – Ages 6-8

Strength, balance, and flexibility exercises with music and yoga games. Partner and group poses emphasized to promote respect for others and self-awareness. Expect to be energetically paced with lots of fun.

Youth Yoga – Ages 9-12

Training in strength, balance, and flexibility with basic yoga poses and simple sequences. Build confidence and stress coping strategies with focus and breathing exercises. Partner and group poses included. Learn about basic anatomy and healthy habits for daily living.

Teen Yoga & Yoga for Athletes

We will cover 3 main areas: breathing, movement and practical use of the two. There will be slight differences between the teen class and athlete class in terms of focus and intensity.

  1. Breathing – Students will learn the functions of the respiratory system, the importance of proper breathing, and benefits of staying aware of their breath.  We will practice diaphragm control and several techniques to increase lung capacity.
  2. Movements – We will practice various basic stretches and postures, focusing on maintaining breath awareness while building strength and flexibility.
  3. Practical – Students will learn how to shape their personal practice to fit their needs. We will practice more isometric movements for correcting imbalances and breathing for specific needs (sleep, focus, energy, etc).
